DESCRIPTION:
Seth Thomas Clock Co., c.1909, 'REGULATOR No. 30', fine wall clock in cherry, and with "Standard Time" gold leaf on original glass, weight driven, 8-day, C.1900.
CONDITION:
although the dial has been professionally repainted, the clock is otherwise in excellent original condition. The one thing that keeps this from being outstanding is the main base molding which may have been near a chair or door, as something has marred it repeatedly. It is our belief that maybe 1 in 20 made were cherry, as this is the first one we have had in 31 years of selling. Although we have sold several of these in the $4000 range, our record was set in April, 2002, when we sold a golden oak one for $6160. For reference on this model, see Tran Ly's book titled "Seth Thomas Clocks", page 306. Ly price guide, item 962 = $4500. Clean and running. Damascene pattern on pendulum is a little worn, but still good. Ht 49"
